Townsville Senior Citizens Welfare Association Inc. provides a welcoming place for senior citizens to connect, take part in activities, access information, and enjoy being part of a supportive local community.
Our association is focused on friendship, wellbeing and community involvement. We offer regular activities, membership information, hall and conference room hire, and helpful resources for seniors and their families.
Whether you are looking to meet new people, stay active, join a regular activity, or find out more about our facilities, we aim to make information easy to access and simple to understand.

Art Classes provide members with a relaxed and creative way to start the week. Members can enjoy painting, drawing or other art-based activities in a friendly group setting. These sessions are suitable for beginners as well as those with more experience, with the focus on creativity, enjoyment and social connection.
Astronomy Class offers members the opportunity to learn more about the night sky, planets, stars, constellations and the wider universe in a relaxed and friendly setting. This activity is suitable for anyone with an interest in space, whether they are complete beginners or already enjoy following astronomy as a hobby.
The class provides a welcoming way to explore interesting topics, ask questions, share discoveries and enjoy learning something new with other members.
Basic Computer Class is a friendly and practical session designed to help members build confidence using computers and everyday technology. The class may cover simple tasks such as using email, browsing the internet, completing online forms, managing files, understanding basic computer settings and improving general digital confidence.
This class is suitable for beginners or anyone who would like extra support in a relaxed and patient learning environment. Members are encouraged to bring along questions and learn at a comfortable pace.
Billiards gives members the opportunity to enjoy a relaxed game in a friendly social setting. Whether playing casually or enjoying a little friendly competition, Pool is a great activity for conversation, concentration and spending time with other members.
Bingo is a fun and social activity where members can enjoy a light-hearted game in good company. It offers entertainment, friendly interaction and a welcoming atmosphere for members who enjoy group activities and conversation.
Cards are a regular social activity where members can enjoy friendly games, conversation and company. These sessions provide a relaxed way to spend time with others, keep the mind active and take part in light-hearted competition. Members of all experience levels are welcome to join in.

Committee meetings are held on the third Friday of each month. Members are encouraged to take an active interest in the association and may apply for a committee position if they would like to contribute to the ongoing running, planning and support of the organisation.

Complimentary morning tea is available each day, giving members and visitors a relaxed opportunity to enjoy a cuppa, have a chat and connect with others. It is a simple and welcoming part of the daily program, helping create a friendly community atmosphere between activities.

Indoor Bowls is a popular activity that combines gentle movement, focus and friendly competition. It is well suited to seniors who want to stay active in a low-impact way while enjoying the company of others in a supportive group environment.
Table Tennis is an enjoyable activity that helps members stay active while having fun in a friendly environment. It is suitable for a range of abilities, from beginners through to regular players, and offers light exercise, coordination and social interaction.

Note: We encourage three (3) visits to the above groups before asking you to become a member (membership fee $10.00 annually), however, entry fees to each group on those visits must still be paid.

The Townsville Senior Citizens Welfare Association Inc. has a range of spaces available for hire, including the Main Hall, Conference Room, Kitchen & Servery, and Library / Small Group Space. All room hire is subject to availability and existing association activities.
A spacious and practical venue suitable for community events, group activities, meetings, workshops, functions and social gatherings.
The Main Hall provides a flexible open space with tables and chairs included, making it suitable for a range of layouts and event types. It includes access to air conditioning and/or large fans, male and female toilets, wheelchair and wheely walker friendly access, and off-street parking adjacent to the hall.
The hall is available for hire when there are no TSCWA activities scheduled, and is generally available most evenings after 5:00pm until 11:00pm.
The Conference Room is a private, air-conditioned meeting space suitable for smaller groups, meetings, presentations, training sessions and workshops.
The room seats up to 20 people comfortably and includes a large 100-inch screen, HDMI connection, Wi-Fi and whiteboard. It is a good option for organisations or groups needing a quieter, more focused space for discussion, planning or presentations.
Tea, coffee or light refreshments can be served from the nearby kitchen servery, making it suitable for half-day and full-day bookings.
The Library / Small Group Space provides a comfortable setting for quieter activities, smaller gatherings and relaxed group sessions.
With tables, chairs and bookshelves already in place, this room may be suitable for reading groups, craft groups, small meetings, discussion groups or breakout activities connected to a larger hall booking.
Please confirm availability and hire conditions with the association, as this space may be used for regular activities or association purposes.
The venue includes a well-equipped kitchen and servery area to support hall and room hire bookings.
The kitchen provides practical facilities for preparing and serving refreshments, morning teas, light meals or catering support during approved events. Hirers are responsible for leaving the kitchen clean and tidy after use.
